History of Amazonica
In 2016, Mr. Sunil Kowlesar and his family moved back to Suriname. With the thought to create and mean something for his native country and that of his wife Shanta Persad. Coincidentally there was a large abandoned lot with 6 bungalows next to their yard. Mr. Kowlesar and his wife saw a lot of potential in this and decided to make this their new project. After the details of buying this property were settled, they immediately started working hard to create Amazonica as it is now... a peaceful paradise.

Name of Amazonica
The story behind the name Amazonica is quite amusing. Shanta & Sunil's daughter went to the zoo almost every year for her birthday. This zoo is her favorite outing to this day. In this zoo came a big butterfly garden called "Amazonica." Every time they went to the zoo, visiting "Amazonica" was on their list. This was because the butterfly garden reminded them of Suriname because of its warm and tropical atmosphere. When they took over the resort they soon noticed that many butterflies came to visit. Hence, they all chose the name Amazonica Bungalows.

Besides the fact that the crew consists of great people, we cannot forget our animals. Inside the resort you will see Amazonica's cats, birds and sometimes even monkeys hanging out.
